New Soft Tissue Reinforcement Solution Meets Evolving Healthcare Needs
Columbia, MD – (May 28, 2015) – ACell, Inc. today announced the release of MatriStem Surgical Matrix Plus, which is indicated for use in a range of surgical procedures including tissue repair, body wall repair, and hernia repair at the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) Annual Scientific Meeting.
The product was designed to provide the strength and support needed in abdominal wall procedures, while also offering superior handling. Its reduced preparation time can also increase operating room efficiency, while its optimal and conformability make it suitable for increasingly common minimally invasive procedures.
“With MatriStem Surgical Matrix Plus, we responded to the clinical needs of our customers,” said Thomas Gilbert, Ph.D., ACell Chief Science Officer. “Our platform technology, Urinary Bladder Matrix, has been shown to contribute to constructive tissue remodeling, and Surgical Matrix Plus offers surgeons a new option for applying this regenerative technology in their practice.”
Surgical Matrix Plus will be featured in the ASCRS New Technologies Symposium, a showcase for innovative products. Vincent Obias, MD, Chief, Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at George Washington University Hospital, will discuss the use of Surgical Matrix devices in complex colorectal applications.
MatriStem Surgical Matrix Plus will be available in four sizes, and is part of the MatriStem Surgical Matrix product family, which includes Surgical Matrix RS, PSM, PSMX.
“Surgical Matrix Plus demonstrates ACell’s commitment to advancing inventive, cost-effective solutions for surgeons and their patients,” said James A. D’Orta, MD, ACell Chief Executive Officer. “By continuing to introduce new products that address changing market needs, ACell will continue to have an ever greater impact across the healthcare field.”
